PageRank - FACTS or FICTIONS

The following are what i gathered from my PageRank/SEO research.

1. It has been said that a new site that is linked from a PR7 site gets crawled by the search engines within several hours and is indexed by Google within 24 hours. That explains why a new site can be popular literally OVERNIGHT!

2. If you are too liberal in exchanging links (especially site with PR zer0), the search engine will not see the website as a trustworthy and authoritative site and your site will suffer in PageRank!

true or false?
FACTS or FICTIONS?

I am not sure.. I guess is true.. This is why alot of bloggers who got PR0 want to exchange links and doing meme..

Do you have an answer for this ? hehe…

    Is this true?

Karen: It is quite true. Many sites are mentioning this. That’s why some site do not direct links on their main page but put all friendly links onto a post.

Keeyit: I guessed bloggers just want to have fun. SEO is not everything. Exchanging links contribute to the number of backlinks but not necessarily the quality of the link. You could read my latest post on Pagerank on this. Cheers!

Bobby: Yah! I will post negative review on the site soon if they still do not reply to my mail. Thanks for alerting. Cheers!

    Hi MT,

What’s the difference between linking on the main page and linking in a post?

    Cheers!

Hi Karen, Linking on the main page means putting the links or blogroll on the sidebar of the page. Linking on your main page means you are linking from Top Level Domain (TLD) which affects how google view the ‘quality’ of your site.

Linking in a post means your gather all the links and published them in an article post. You refer to the post by a link on your sidebar. In this way, links are treated as “contextual” and not TLD.

This is how i gathered from Google “Link Schemes”page. http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=66356

Not that PageRank is all important but i find this interesting from the research point of view. I heard that Google is removing PageRank altogether. I do not know how true that is. You can read them at Bobby site. As i gather more evidence, i will response in a post.

    Cheers!

I took care of the scam artist. I did it last week but I haven’t seen you in a bit!

The way I see pagerank is a bit different.

What they want you to do is link and or try to get links from high ranking blogs. SORRY! I WILL NOT DO THAT! First of all, the high ranking bloggers are greedy and don’t care about anyone but themselves. Why is it different to make friends with an A-lister than a non-A lister?

I maybe penalized for linking to low ranking blogs but I know that over time, many of them will be high ranking.

The only reason some A listers won’t have anything to do with me is my pagerank. My blog should be a PR of 5 or better and it just might be after the update. When that happens, I dare one of the A list bloggers to try to talk to me, I will have nothing to do with them. I don’t need them to be successful.

Earlier today, I had 324 people on my site at the same time and it overloaded my server!!!!! I just had to dish out $125.00 to upgrade to the superfast server. So far today, I’ve had 625 page views and there’s still 11 hours to go!!!!!

My networking strategy is built on friendships and it is a much slower climb than linking to a bunch of PR7 sites. However, it is more powerful as I know all my readers by name and they are my friends!

Bobby: Thanks for the comment. Sorry I didn’t manage to write a negative post on that because i was so busy recently helping out in a friend’s wedding and attending weddings. Anyway, i have put up a short notice (rather than a negative post which i am quite relectant to write) regarding my previous post of it so as to warn and not to mislead people.

Like you, i am, personally not really concern with PageRank! (if not i would have taken out the blogroll of friends on my main page! among other things)

From reserach point of view, i am curious to find out more about it. Why so many people play the PageRank game and give it such a boost and it has attained an ‘unbelievable’ status.

I value friendship too. That said, all my friends are welcome to tag or exchange links.

Bobby, i would be grateful if you could mention me in some of your posts. I need that extra flow of traffic. i will do the same for friends who request. Of course, on relevant topics. Thanks in advance.

Winston: Please refer to my reply to your comment on my original blog on PageRank and the tools. Cheers!

    Karen: Thanks for dropping by.

Trinity: Some of the methods on how to increase PageRank (if it still interest you is posted under the tag PageRank or SEO in this blog and my original post). If you have further questions, you are welcome to email me at Maketraffic@gmail.com. I am not an expert but i will try my best to answer your queries.

    Cheers!
